Oh boy is this a good day! :banghead (insert sarcasm here!) So I just dealt with Wheel Specialist in Tempe. Not only do they want my car (or wheels) for 7 business days but they also want about $1000.00 to take all 4 wheels apart, remove all the old sealant, apply new sealant, replace the fasteners holding the 3 pieces together, put the tires back on and balance them. over a week without my car and $1000.00!!!!! I am pissed to say the least! I just left a message for the owner over at 360 Forged to see how he wants to resolve this issue. Told him he can pick up the tab and pay wheel specialist direct because I am not taking 1000.00 out of my account for this or he can replace the wheels with a brand new set that he personally inspects before shipping or they can refund 100% of what I paid for these wheels and they can send a truck to pick them up and ship them back. I am now awaiting a response from 360 forged to see what they want to do. On another note...I torqued all the wheel bolts last night and took the car for a small drive...no leaking. Let it sit overnight....still no drop in PSI. BUT Wheel Specialist says they need to be taken apart and gone over.

360 makes some great looking wheels, but they have had a terrible reputation for some time in the Corvette community. Mostly it was for customer service and the fact that the previous owner stole money from many customers by not filling orders and keeping the money. Also quality issues have come into question. These are the reasons why they were kicked off the national forum as vendors. Supposedly, there has been a new managerial team over the last year which is trying to rebuilt the trust of the Corvette community. They now sell the brand as sponsor vendors in the CF again, but issues like yours prove that they are the same $hit with just some different flies. At the high speeds I suspect your Z travels at times having a wheel come apart is sure death. But hey, they apologized for the inconvenience. Post your story in the main forum and follow their rules if the vendor is a forum sponsor. They may do some damage control and fix your wheels to prove they have better customer service nowadays. Good luck!

Forged has new owners as of about a year ago now. Yes the old owner was reported to have taken money and not filled orders or made promises of 4-6 weeks and 6 months later they get their wheels. I did a lot of research on this company and their wheels before I purchased. They do make some awesome wheels...my favs out of any company I have seen. Its unfortunate I am having this issue but we will see how they handle it. I have 2 different people there I am dealing with now...the manager and the manufacturing supervisor I guess. One is telling me...just torque the bolts to 20lbs and it will be fine...no need to stress over it. While the other WAS telling me to take it to the local shop and they will pick up the tab to have them handle it. Well once I told them the quote now they want me to ship the wheels back to them so they can inspect them and do what needs to be done. I am not about to send them back unless its for a refund because they will take 4 weeks before I see them back here. yet the production manager is telling me...dont worry, just tighten them and they wont ever come loose...the person who assembled them forgot to tighten them. Oh gee...thats assuring. lol.

I am just curious how many rims GM warranties every year for out of round, going flat, pourous, out of balance, finish issues or just plain sucking?

Does GM warranty items for "just plain sucking"? Does that mean I can get new key fobs now?

I think i would have the one wheel re-sealed, and re-torque the rest after adding a bit of loc-tite. My assumption is that you'll be solid after that. If that doesn't make you happy, then I guess my next step would be to fight for a new set. With no down time. Meaning when your new wheels show up, you'll send the old ones back.

yup thats what I was aiming for...a new set, no down time. BUT I dont think they are going for that option. They are wanting me to just torque the bolts and call it a day. If after torque the bolts...wont I still need to have them balanced to be sure that tightening them didnt alter the balance of the wheel? And about this slime in the tire...will I need to have that taken out or will it be ok? I dont see what leaving it in will harm.

TAKE THE SLIME OUT!!!! not only will it create a mess inside the tire, and throw it off balance, but those products are designed to soften the inside of the tire to make sealing the hole easier. I'm not sure about Slime, but I know that's how fix-a-flat works. But for sure it will create an imbalance. As far as balancing after torquing the wheels... I wouldn't sweat it. I assume the wheels are cut to a tolerance that when re-tightened, everythiong will be back exactly where it was when it left the factory. But the best test is to drive the car. If you drive it and it doesn't shake, then you're good.

I just drove it for about 15 mins (only up to 60mph) and all seemed OK. LPM/Mike- If I bring it down can you remove the tire (without scratching my wheel LOL) so we can take the slime out? and check balance on the 2 front wheels?

They may have some stock rims you can drive around on while they work on your 360s. They offered that for my wife's vette when I had her HREs repaired.

Ahhh Jay, Jay, Jay....... Like Eddie said you should have been slapped in the head first. But enough of the fun stuff. Having the cousin to 360 forged and made by the same knuckle heads the Modular concept is build the same as yours. I should think that if you catch the remainder of the wheel bolts and have them torqued and inspected you should not have to take them apart. After all the wheel leaked due to the loosening of your nuts that held your three piece rims together. There fore if they are not leaking air now just check and torque all the nuts on the other wheels and figure it was a failure to having any quality control on 360's part beyond cosmetic of corse. Very sad to here that its hard to expect quality work for what seems like a large quantity amount of money. I feel your pain The difference is I caught the problems before I had to make finial payment and there fore I had some leverage still. Aline did seem to be sympathetic of my problems but like you, He wanted me to send my shit back to him in Florida. What about our time and inconvenience factor. Yes, shit happens but you gotta put a huge emphasis's of quality control. seeing as peoples life's are riding on their products. Have you gotten to the bottom of the front tpms going xxx or reading 0 ? I still have issues. SLAMMER

My TPMS sensors work flawlessly now. Wheel Specialist strapped them down better...no problems. They said the reason they were mis reading was because as the wheel was spinning the sensor was moving around in there to much...under the force it would pull away from the wheel just enough to break communication. Now that they are secured up against the wheel....no issues.

To Loud Mike, I do see you point and a point well taken to a degree. Yes Jays wheels might have tighter tolerances that is a given. However GM being the builder and had ran the C6 Corvette through extensive tests to make sure the wheel and tire combination would work for what the car was designed for which is what over 180 miles an hour. GM has way more riding on the ultimate risks associated with building a quality product for the dumbest people on the planet than a small wheel manufacturer. So in short, if my cars wheels explode or do anything other than what they were designed to do and I or anybody for that matter dies from the mishap GM will be in big dodo. Look at what happened in the case with Toyota and their pathetic safety issue with floor mats not staying put and what over 100,000 cars had been recalled. So buy up those awesome 3 piece wheels and stand out among the crowd, as for me, I am still tickled to death everyday that I get to sit in my own Vette and cruise to work. Yes Vettes may not be nearly as unique as they once were but there are still far less of them on the road than any other american sports car.

could be worse Drew...look at my tag, I have no clue what the h*ll it even means lol. Anyway yeah I have no doubt the GM wheels would hold up in 99.9% of the cases BUT then my car would look like everyone elses, with the exception of it being the coolest color ever. With my 3 piece wheels it sets it apart from most other vettes on the road.
