BSeery
There was a choke light put in all of the vettes from 77-81 It is non functional from 81 Bowling Green vettes -up. 81 Bowling Green Vettes are 2 tone in paint. You may have a failing electric choke heating element. It's on the passenger side of the carb. When the car is cold (overnight) take the air filter element off and move the throttle a little bit. The choke butterfly valve should snap shut on the top of the carb. Turn the car on and watch this butterfly valve. It should slowly open as it heats up. Check to make sure the wire is connected to the chock, a round plastic part on the carb with a metal wire connector sticking out from the side.Check it for voltage. It should be about 5 volts positive. Best of luck.
