We have several job openings at Luke AFB in the purchasing career. Minimum education requirements are 4 year degree with at least 24 hours in business related credits. Starting salary ranges from $39,674 to $58,715 depending on education and experience. For example, someone with a 4 year degree but no experience in purchasing would start at $39,674and would increase to $48.5 after 1 year and $58.7 after 2 years. Someone with a 4-year degree and 2 years of purchasing experience would start at $48,529 and increase to $58.7k after 1 year with annual within grade increases over time. We also have openings for an intern position for those who are within 2 years of completing a 4 year or higher degree. Job announcement is below. The 56 Contracting Squadron is planning to hire two students into Student Career Experience Program (SCEP) positions. Our intent is to non-competitively convert the student to a permanent position upon the successful completion of the student’s degree program. The SCEP will be in a training position, which will teach the employee about the federal government and Air Force contracting processes, to include acquisition of services, supplies and construction, and administration of contracts awarded, through rotational assignments and hands-on activities. The intent of the program is to train future contracting officers who may eventually progress into managerial positions. The SCEP program targets bachelors and masters candidates. Candidates must be currently enrolled in and maintain a course workload of at least half-time in accordance with the requirements of the school, and must be available to work at least 640 hours in civil service prior to completion of the degree requirements. Interested candidates must be U.S. citizens, and working on an undergraduate or post-graduate degree from an accredited college, maintaining a minimum overall grade-point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale. Candidates must also have completed at least 24 semester hours or equivalent of study in their degree program or supplemental courses in any of the following disciplines: accounting, business, finance, law, contracts, purchasing, economics, industrial management, marketing, quantitative methods, and organization and management. Upon satisfactory completion of the degree requirements, the student may be non-competitively converted to a permanent position. The Air Force provides excellent employee benefits. A new employee can earn up to two and a half weeks paid annual vacation the first year, not counting 10 paid holidays and 13 days sick leave per year. The program also offers benefits similar to a 401k plan. Insurance benefits include low-cost life insurance and a choice of nearly 20 health plans at a group rate. Current annual entry-level salary for students is between $12,750.00 and $16,014.00, based on a 20 hour work week. The salary will depend on the level of education completed at time of hire.
