jagoff
So my E brake in my vette is working intermittently. sometimes i pull it and theres tension and it works, other times i pull it and theres no tension at all and it doesnt engage. i have absolutely NO idea what may be causing this but it is awfully inconvenient. any ideas? ChadC
E brake adjustment is not fun. from memory, you should ohly have to pull 1/2 of the full travel on the handel for 100% engagement. from memeory, the e-brake pads (built inside the rear disk) self adjust when you go in reverse, but there is a manual star or pin wheel for adjustment. here is the crappy part. to get it properley configured evenely. every change you make to one side has to be duplicated on the other. then to test it. put the wheels back on. TQ the lugnuts lower the car. drive it test it then re raise the car, remove the wheels move the star pin wheel one notch put wheels back on, TQ the lugnuts .. yadda yadda yadda when you look at the e-brake pads the wear will not be even. just as long as both pads look the sale (mirror image of each other) it may be time to replace the pads, springs and hardware. If you do that you will not have to do that again for the life if the car. cheers cahd
1EVLC7
The park brake cables are tensioned automatically by cycling the park brake lever 3 times. Try that too.

Try that too. i think i "cycled" it about 3563 times before i gave up haha. there is no tension at all right now. i am really boggled by why it works sometimes and not others. sunday, broken. monday fixed. tuesday broke again. what might cause this? Big Poppa
The park brake is just a set of drum brakes inside the rotor. If you know how to adjust drum brakes, there you go.
Mregor
I'm not sure what the e-brake system is like on the C5, but it would seem to me that if there is no tension, it's not a matter of adjusting the shoes but would be something with the cable/pulley system if there is one. Maybe the cable has come off track somehow? In the older cars, there was pulleys and maybe the cable came out of the pulley? Just guessing here.
