Eddie44
I had a friend who bought a new Mazda for his daughter before he sent her off to college (Nebraska for Mark and Jim). 50K miles later the motor seized and when they tore it down you could stand a screwdriver straight up in the oil pan sludge. Desertdawg
So no oil change = wearing out half your motor? Where's the other bank of cylinders? That thing only has half a motor.

Ted Y
I only read the first post, but asking what they can do??? Throw the f'n motor out and put a new one in. Who doesn't know to change the oil today???? They cleaned it out. Ran some oil detergents in it, changed the filter and oil in 2500 miles and it appears to be running fine. Probably will be OK. It didn't sound like he didn't know to change his oil, but rather he just kept putting it off and maybe didn't have the money or something... I would want to pull the oil pan and pickup off and clean it real good after the flush. If it doesn't have rod knock it will probably be okay.
