Kicking Puppies

Hawkeye

Recommended Posts

I notice that someone's Avatar shows a person kicking a puppy off a bridge. I can't imagin why someone would chose such a self description that to others would be extremely offenseive and seem rather sick. I don't believe that the use of this puts ACE in a very good light. It's really not funny. Sorry about that, but it has to be said. Your call. Hawkeye

It's from a movie, "The Legend of Ron Burgundy" I think. It's funny in the context of the movie. This is going to start some crap...

I think it's funny because it's so fake, and so extreme. I don't think for a second that it advocates animal abuse. It was just good hearted fun. I don't think he should have to change his avatar. I think if it were a real video of some guy beating a dog all Michael Vick style, it would be as reprehensible as child porn or any other form of rape. Cruelty to animals human or not is never acceptable, but c'mon... Did you really think that dog going over the bridge was real? Respectfully, I say... Lighten up. BTW, Cale... Did you see that your avatar, Reby Sky, is Ms Howard TV this month? They just interviewed her a couple days ago.

Phill's Vette

I didn't find that avatar offensive at all.... I have one dog and three cats and would end up in prison if anyone tried to hurt them or any pet for that matter. Along the same line, someone on here use to have a personalized plate that said "PONYH8R" meaning they hate Mustangs - somewhat appropriate for a Vette owner and even a challenge. Someone complained to DMV and said they found it offensive as it was saying they hate horses..... Totally missing the point. They had to change their plate! Now if it was kitten juggling or baby seal clubbing maybe I'd feel different....... :burnout2 IMO of course!

I found the movie "Anchorman, the legend of Ron Burgandy" was a funny movie. In the end, the dog returns to save the day. :partydance:

One will find humor in one thing that another will find offensive. You can’t make everyone happy. Everyone is entitled to his or her own opinion.

Excellent point!

I didn't find the puppy gif offensive knowing it was all fake, but likewise I didn't really see the humor that others may have seen.

Wow. A scene, from a well known comedic movie, which is make-believe in every way and obviously so. I guess Dawg's avatar is offensive as well. I mean a rocket strapped to that poor doggie. Ri-cock-ulous. I'm offended at the perceived offense.

Hawkeye's point is taken and Dean your's is too. I say difference of opinion like this makes the world go round! Let's not all get our panties in a wade and I'm closing this topic before it gets out of hand over a difference of opinion that we'll never get 100% agreement on.

Yeah me too! But having admin powers does have an advantage. Each person chooses their own avatar, if it was illegal, racial, offensive... etc. I would step in and say something. Also an avatar is not representation of ACE, I have never been to a forum and thought an avatar being used by an individual was to be interpreted as that forums beliefs or standards. That being said I did step in once and that was met with mixed reactions. So as long as the above standards are not breeched, each member is responsible for their own choice. I hope this helps those here understand ACE's position, and that everyone realize's that it's not ACE's responsibility to protect members beliefs or standards.
