Goodbye T56; hello TR6060 MH3

Well, the time has come to pull my original T56 out of my 2006 C6 Z06 after 92k miles of service 👍 I'm moving up to a TR6060 MH3 spec transmission that was in a 2010 ZR1. The transmission was upgraded with complete set of carbon blocking rings, bronze fork pads, etc. With the 1st gear ratio at 2.29, it's going to hurt my 60' times initially at the 1/4 mile Drags, but hope to pair it with a 3.90 or 4.10 ring and pinion upgrade later this year. It will be interesting to see what this transmission swap does for my standing start 1/2 mile and 1 mile runs at terminal speeds. I ran her up to 204.4 mph earlier this year (private track, of course 😉 ) with the T56/3.42 combo with a little bit left in her but ran out of track in 5th gear. Best 0-60 was 2.90 seconds. Best 60' has been 1.49 , best 1/4 at 10.40@134.75, best standing 1/2 mile ET of 17.68@161.96 mph, best standing 1/2 mile trap of 163 @ 7350 RPM on 315/35/17 Hoosier DR's.

What’s it going to do to the top end speeds. Or is that going to be about the same ?

My top speed should now be reached in 6th gear, but I won't to be able to pull to pull redline in 6th until I switch to the 3.90 rear gear.

Here's the chart showing my 335/25/20, 7400 RPM redline, and max MPH per gear, with a 3.42 and a 3.90 rear gear :)

I think once I get everything installed and matched up, my top speed with my current power level will be approximately 206-210 MPH

Graph with 335/25/20 with both 3.42 and 3.90

With a 27" rear tire, 3.90 rear gear, TR6060 MH3 transmission, and setting graph to where my max RWHP is at (6800 RPM), I get the following theoretical top speed if I can pull to my max HP (6800 RPM) and not my max redline of 7400 RPM

FYI, while I spun quite a bit on this test (note the 60' time of 2.57 seconds), I ran my Nitto NT05R 285/40/18 tire on a test Saturday morning to see what kind of acceleration curve I have. I can hit well over 70+ MPH in 1st gear now (graph says 76 MPH@7400 RPM), but yesterday I ran it up to approximately 7000 RPM and hit these numbers, 4.15 seconds to 60 MPH with a VMax of 71.5 MPH in 1st gear :)

Graph of MPH at max RPM of 7400 RPM.

VBox Sport data, spinning in 1st, shows 4.15 second 0-60, with max speed in test of 71.5 MPH at 7000 RPM, using only 1st gear.

The 4.15 seconds was also done without the customary 1 foot rollout drag strip method of measuring this time , which is used by most publications for 0-60 test :)

One last piece of data........

If I can pull 7000-7100 RPM in the traps in the 1/2 mile, I'll have enough gear and tire diameter to reach my target of 165 MPH in the standing 1/2 mile :)

I could only reach a max of 163 MPH at the last event as I was hitting the rev limiter and gearing limited at 7400 RPM at the traps.

Hoosier 315/35/17 drag radial (worn down to 25.35") and 7400 RPM rev limiter....163 MPH

And, lo and behold....basically 163 MPH last event on the Hoosiers  :D
