Dual Climate Control LED Faded Out

The LED letters/numbers have finally disappeared.  Folks on the big board say it's an easy fix.  I do believe it's way beyond my capabilities.  Has anyone here had this problem fixed locally, or done it themselves?

I've done it......twice. The first time I followed the recommended procedure of NOT adding solder and merely re-flowing the solder on the LED's. I got the display back but it was somewhat dimmer than it should've been and eventually started to fade out again

I recently had need to put in a new ignition switch so I needed to pull the bezel for that. I popped the head unit back out, cracked it open, a touched up the solder points, flowing just a dab of new solder this time around. Display is now strong and bright like new

Its not a horrible thing to do. I went out and purchased a cold solder tool because I was concerned about overheating the components. It was really difficult to control both times. I think just a little Weller solder tool is the trick and just don't lay the tip on the connections for too long. Does take a steady hand, if you're shakey at all, this will not be the DIY for you

If I buy the beer of your choice, would you consider tackling mine?  I'm sure I can get it out.  I could probably do the fix if I had supervision even.

Not sure I'd be comfortable doing it Dave, nothing personal. Its one thing if I mess up my own stuff, I'd be sick if I screwed the pooch on yours. Not to mention I really don't know when I would have time to commit to it.

Check out this link, positive reviews and the turn around is fast. This was going to be my back up plan:

Good time to learn a new skill. Especially if you have step by step instructions.

Worst you could do is take to electronics repair shop if really scared. I understand some people just are not inclined for certain tasks.

I understand. No sweat.  I'll try it and see what happens.
