So, after I have these run craps installed, I now feel an oscillating vibration in the chassis... no so much in the steering wheel, but at around 55-65... it's like brrrump, pause, pause, brrrump, rinise & repeat. After 70+, i don't feel/see it anymore. Is this a tire balance issue, worn shocks, or worn bushings or just a byproduct of run craps and AZ asphalt?
I know... don't give me too much hell over the tire selection, I seem to have bad luck with picking stuff up off the road or my dad's farm property, and without a spare... i'd have been stranded more than once if i didn't have the runflats.
Point me in the right direction on what to look for or how to check the obvious. I need to stick my head out the window next time, see if the tires are bouncing (shock issue)... but what's the common failure point for bushings? Lower arms, ball joints, etc?
Thanks folks!

I had a helluva time getting the ride on mine smoothed out when I put on the ZR-1 wheels...shocks, alignment, balance, rear bushings and adjustable trailing arms, etc. and doing tires in pairs cuz they were so $$$. Got rid of most of it but was not perfect until I replaced the front rotors!

GOOD LUCK - ask Chameleon about her Michelins RF's

Try to find some place that will do a road force balance too.

Call Ed (Blew X U), Coulter balanced mine and it cleared up a similar problem.

I agree that road force balancing is the way to go. thumbsup.gif

I bet if you look close you have a bent rim, they could've dropped one when they were being mounted. I had a similar condition (I don't think as bad as yours), we were changing out my shocks and discovered I had a bent rim. Got the wheel fixed, no mo problem

Oh, soon thereafter I put a set of Falkens on it and it was like a different car
Possibly the most unmodified car in the group. Just creamy, pewter, stock, Corvette goodness

Thanks for the tips, folks! I'll likely have to wait until I get back from Tucson after next week... but I'll look for the obvious hopping or wobbly wheel on the cruise down.

Don't feel too bad theChad. My car has had a similar vibration/oscillation for years now. It is only noticeable around 55+ mph when turning the wheel to the left. She's been at unmentionable speeds, done auto x, quarter mile runs at the strip, etc. in those years with no problems/failures. I've inspected my suspension numerous times, changed rims, changed tires, but no change in that vibration. I cannot find anything wrong, not even in the hub.

So for me until something breaks, nothing changes. lol.gif

Maybe it's a half shaft? If it's just certain speeds it's after the tranny so that rules out the drive shaft!

I didn't even contemplate that possible issue... and all this started after new shoes and post-father's day run when EVERYTHING got a real good workout on the twisties and straights. yesnod.gif </mental note>

You might be thinking of someone else Andrew. My car has seen new tires, new wheels, and new rotors...still there. confused.gif

Oh well, I've learned to live with it. I think it may be a bearing issue in the front right spindle, but I can get it to do it with no weight on it, so it can't be too bad. lol.gif

Possibility... but wouldn't I feel something similar from the clutch pedal... either statically (foot resting on clutch) or during/fully depressed?? I don't feel anything out of the ordinary.
And, from what I can see... there's no wheel hop, but I need to get it into a shop soon, run the road force test on it after I ensure Discount double checks the balance... maybe I threw a wheel weight on Mingus Mountain. lol.gif

Thanks for the tips, guys... stay tuned!

Yeah, you should feel a very low vibe at idle if the clutch was the problem....
